Who we are

Snack Signal is a marketplace connecting mobile food vendors with residents. Snack Signal and Grocelytics are operated by Jamnaytac LLC (“we”, “us”). Contact: privacy@snacksignal.com.

What we collect

  • Account: email address (via Amazon Cognito) and your chosen role (resident or vendor).
  • Social sign-in (optional): if you sign up with Google or Apple, we receive and store your email address and name from the provider — and from Google, your profile picture. We never receive your password from them. Apple lets you hide your real email behind a private relay address, which works fine here. If you also have an email/password account with the same verified email, the two become one account rather than duplicates.
  • Location:
    • Vendors: your device’s location while you are “live”, to broadcast your truck’s position to nearby residents. Collected in the background during a shift; stops when you end the shift.
    • Residents: your location when you raise a signal or set your home, to place your request and to show nearby trucks. Foreground only.
  • Signals: the request pins you create, their status, and timestamps.
  • Home & alerts: if you save a home location (by pin, current location, or a typed address), we store it with your chosen alert radius to send you nearby-truck alerts. Typed addresses are geocoded into coordinates using Amazon Location Service (AWS).
  • Ratings: star ratings you leave for a truck after a fulfilled signal. Ratings and per-truck averages are visible to signed-in users.
  • Push token: a device push token so we can notify you (e.g. “arriving soon”).
  • Following: which vendors you follow and your alert preferences.

How we use it

To operate the core service: show live trucks, deliver signals to vendors, compute road ETAs and look up street addresses (via Amazon Location Service), and send you notifications you opted into. We do not sell your personal information, and the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics. Our marketing site (www.snacksignal.com) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless service that reports only aggregate traffic statistics — it sets no cookies and does not identify or track you.

Sharing

  • A vendor’s live location is shown to residents who follow them / are nearby.
  • A resident’s request pin (location) is shown to the vendor they summoned.
  • Ratings you post are visible to signed-in users alongside the truck’s average.
  • Infrastructure providers (AWS, including Amazon Location Service for maps, ETAs, and geocoding) process data on our behalf. Push delivery uses the Expo push service and, on Android, Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging.

Retention & deletion

Signals and location breadcrumbs are retained only as long as needed for the service and analytics, then deleted. You can request account and data deletion at privacy@snacksignal.com (or the in-app account controls once available).

Your controls

  • Turn off location permission at any time in your OS settings (the app degrades gracefully).
  • Toggle per-vendor “went live” alerts, switch off nearby-truck alerts, or change your alert radius in the app; or disable notifications in OS settings.
  • Remove your saved home location at any time from your profile.
  • Vendors: end your shift to stop all location broadcasting immediately.

Children

Snack Signal is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
